“After the success with the public in Pordenone and for the concert in Japan in Fukuoka on November 19th, the Fadiesis Accordion Festival (Faf) returns to the city of the Sassi with two appointments in November and December.” This is what is announced with a note in which it is specified that the first is “In November, Saturday 26 – starting at 8 pm – in the “Giovanni Paolo II” Auditorium of the parish of San Giuseppe Artigiano in via degli Aragonesi, the duo Marianna Di Ruvo on saxophone and Giacomo Desiante on accordion they will perform in a concert with free admission. Jazz standards and music by Galliano, Piazzolla and Desiante are on the program for a journey through popular music, jazz and tango, with songs arranged and some even composed by Desiante.”
The second one “In December, Friday 9 – starting at 20.30 – at the Cinema il Piccolo the Fadiesis Accordion Festival pays homage to Pier Paolo Pasolini with visual concert” under the banner of contamination between artistic languages: “Pasolini. Music and image for the Gospel according to Matthew”. Interpreters of this musical-multimedia workshop will be the String Quartet Solisti Lucani & Fadiesis. Maestro Gianni Fassetta will intervene with his accordion, an instrument loved by Pasolini, as a musical commentary on the drawings made live by Giuseppe Palumbo.
“The Fadiesis Accordion Festival continues to give unforgettable moments, for the musical content, but also and above all for that spirit of encounter which is the essence of music and which the accordion interprets in an exemplary way – says Gennaro Loperfido, delegate for Basilicata of the Fadiesis musical association – meeting between the territories of Basilicata and Friuli Venezia Giulia and meeting with important cultural realities such as the “Duni” Conservatory of Matera, the Eu Japan Fest and the recent but profound collaboration with ICM–Institute for Encounters Central Europeans of Gorizia. In the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica-Gorizia, advocated by the ICM, last October 16th the Orienti concert was staged which united two Regions and two musical realities (from Basilicata the Solisti Lucani and from Friuli Venezia Giulia the Ensemble Fadiesis). A musical dialogue between the Central European-Balkan East of Gorizia and the Greek-Roman-Byzantine East of Matera, with specially written pieces by the composers Pino Lioy, from Venosa, and Paolo Pessina, from Trieste. An authentic virtuous circle of creativity, welcomed with success as it was in August in Matera and Venosa. On that stage, together with maestro Gianni Fassetta, artistic director of the Festival, I had the honor of representing Matera – concludes Loperfido – in a day of music, with special notes of enthusiasm and friendship, sincerely open to the future”.
The Fadiesis Accordion Festival 2022 is organized under the patronage of: Ministry of Culture (MiC); National Museum of Matera (MNM); Friuli Venezia Giulia Region; Basilicata Region; Matera Foundation – Basilicata 2019; Province and Municipality of Matera; Municipality of Pordenone; Municipality of Venice.
