Dakarprivee – Alongside Emmanuel Macron, Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara announced on Saturday, December 21, the imminent end of the FCFA which will be replaced by the ECO. The 8 West African countries, members of the West African Monetary Union (UEMOA), will manage this currency themselves without interference with France.

According to sources, the CFAF will disappear from July 2020. The entry into force of the ECO will put an end to the centralization of the foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank of the Summers of West Africa to the treasury French.
