Ten Saeima Deputies Receive Administrative Penalties from September 2024 to January 2025

A series of administrative penalties were issued to Saeima deputies from September 2024 to January 2025, according to the Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior. The Saeima Mandate, Ethics, and Submissions Committee has made this information available.

Deputies Ignoring Traffic Regulations

Dāvis Mārtiņš Daugavietis, a member of New Unity, and Alīna Gendele, also from New Unity, were penalized for disregarding road signs. These violations highlight the importance of adhering to traffic rules not only for personal safety but also as a model of public behavior.

Speeding and License Violations

Iļja Ivanovs, a representative of For Stability!, faced penalties for exceeding speed limits in populated areas. Additionally, Ivanovs was penalized for driving without a valid driver’s license or identification on him, underscoring the critical nature of compliance with driving regulations.

Medical and Healthcare Issues

Juris Jakovins of the Union of Greens and Farmers received a penalty for violations related to the provision of medical opinions and healthcare. Such breaches can have serious consequences, impacting the trust and effectiveness of the healthcare system.

Professional Conduct and Language Requirements

Viktora Pučka, another representative of For Stability!, was penalized for failing to comply with official requirements and interfering with official activities. She also received a penalty for not using the official language during professional duties, which is essential for maintaining clear communication in governmental roles.

Road Marking Infringements

Ģirts Štekerhof, from New Unity, faced penalties for violating road markings. This offense indicates a need for greater attention to traffic regulations by elected officials.
