We have found memories of the Elephone soldier, a rugged smartphone which sported a fairly unique analog compass and a price point that earned it some high ratings in reviews from around the world.
Elephone now has a new flagship, the U3H, and although it may not have the same robust credential as its brother, it more than compensates for it elsewhere.
Priced at $ 184.89 (around £ 142, AU $ 268) after using an exclusive AliExpress coupon, the Elephone U3H is the cheapest smartphone that combines 256 GB of storage with 8 GB of system memory, as much as a flagship laptops in the market.
Elephone U3H | $ 184.89 on AliExpress
An Elephone U3H can be packed for a minimum price of just under $ 185, which includes free delivery and a $ 6 discount for new users. This is a mid-range smartphone with Android 9.0 (upgradeable to 10), with 8 GB of RAM, a 48 megapixel camera, 256 GB on-board storage and a massive 6.6-inch screen and 3.7 megapixels.
There are also two rear cameras, including a 48-megapixel Sony, the IMX586, a fairly large 6.53-inch FHD + screen and a not-so-small 3,500 mAh battery.
Add NFC and wireless charging and you will get a device that, on paper, is hard to beat if storage is what you are looking for. It currently has Android 9.0, but the manufacturer has confirmed that you will get Android 10 in a few weeks.
As a disclaimer, buying from Chinese retailers such as Aliexpress means that you may have to wait a long time to get your item, up to two months.
There is also a small chance of being stung for additional charges and Chinese products may not be 100% compatible with local voltage or mobile network bands, and returns are often difficult to complete.
