PLUM (KDKA) – A member of the Plum school council who posted anti-Muslim comments on social media is no longer on the table.

The Plum Area School Council listened to several speakers on Saturday before voting to accept the resignation of Brian Wisniewski after his controversial Facebook post on Muslims in Congress.

"We do not have to be bad, bad or hateful, and I know that's not what the Prune School District is about," said Ken Huston, president of the Allegheny East branch of the NAACP.

In the message that was removed from his Facebook page, Wisniewski published: "Does not anyone bother to have three devout Muslims in Congress who have unlimited access to our top secret government documents?"

And it was a re-post.

Later Wisniewski presented his resignation.

"Unfortunately, he shared what he shared in a temporary interval of judgment, but it must be an example for our children and he was not providing the right example, so I think this is a good step in the right direction", Plum resident Michael Devine said.

The council accepted Wisniewski's resignation and further condemned his statement.

"The board of directors of the Plum Borough School district hereby declares that the act of republishing an inappropriate, offensive and highly insensitive post by Wisniewski on social media does not reflect the mission, principles and standards of the district. , "Plum Board President Scott Disse Coulson.

"The district has made great strides, and we will not allow this unfortunate incident to discourage us from an inexorable path to excellence and the critical work of preparing our students in an exceptional way to success," said the communications specialist. Plum Charlene Payne.

School board members did not answer questions about restoring the diversity committee to help close the gap between different cultures.

"What they have to do is open and say look, we want help, we want to embrace our diversity and we have to do what we have to do to make our district acceptable to all cultures and races," Huston said.
