It is just over a year since Netflix last increased the cost of its subscriptions.

The latest price increases are because the company pays a lot of attention to original content and expands its reach internationally.

In addition to increasing the price on its standard plan, Netflix has shaken up the top plan and the most basic package.

The top plan, which allows four-screen streaming in high definition, is increased from $ 13.99 per month to $ 15.99, while the cost of the base plan increases from $ 7.99 to $ 8.99.

The price increases will be applied over the coming months to all existing members and immediately to all new members, according to Netflix in a statement.

This is the first time since October 2017 that Netflix has raised prices for its American subscribers.

Netflix shares, with earnings expected for the fourth quarter on Thursday, rose 5.5 percent to $ 351.21 in trading before the stock market.

WHY DOES NETFLIX PREPARE FOR THE PRICES?

In October 2017 Netflix shocked users when they sent an e-mail informing them about a price increase that increased the monthly costs of users by as much as 10 per cent.

Netflix began to pay £ 7.99 ($ 11 in the US) per month instead of £ 7.49 ($ 10 in the US) for a plan that includes HD and allows people to simultaneously run programs at two can view different devices.

The price for a subscription that includes ultra-high definition or 4K video, with which users can watch four different devices simultaneously, went up to £ 9.99 ($ 14 in the US) of £ 8.99 ($ 12 in the US) per month, an increase of 10 percent.

A subscription that limits subscribers on one screen at a time without high-definition remained £ 5.99 ($ 8 in the US) per month.

The move also comes after a recent report on platform sharing, showing that millennials are most likely to pass their password on to others.

The study of the CordCutting blog revealed that about 15 percent of Americans are guilty of behavior.

At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, video software producer unveiled a new software last week designed to reduce the problem by analyzing which users are logged in and marking the shared accounts.
