Hi-Rez Studios phones Sony to play multi-platform Play-Play

Hi-Rez Studios are inspired by Sony for multiplatform games

Last year it did not seem clear if Sony could ever get into cross-play action after putting his foot in his mouth one or more times on the problem. Towards the end of 2018 it seemed that they were willing to make it work and resigned a bit, with Fortnite and Rocket League both joining the ranks of cross-play. In November, Hi-Rez Studios announced that the cross-play would arrive at Paladins, Smite and Realm Royale, but it was recently postponed and now they arexpressing their frustration with Sony.

SMITE Battleground of the Gods

Last month Hi-Rez announced that the cross-play was delayed for Paladins, Realm Royale and SMITE in order to polish the finished product, however it seems they are ready to go and maybe Sony is not. As you can imagine, they are frustrated by the fact that while they are now ready with the possibility for players to play together on multiple platforms, Sony has not given them the go-ahead to launch the feature. The president of Hi-Rez Studios, Stewart Chisam, recently brought on Twitter to call Sony. You can check it below.

Stewart Chisam also released the benefits of cross-play and talked about how Switch and Xbox have seen reduced waiting times and a reduction in poor games since they launched the cross-game between Microsoft and Nintendo. You can also check this list below.

It will be interesting to see how Sony will respond and if this could speed up the process. Do you agree with Hi-Rez? What do you think of this hot topic topic? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and do not forget to keep it locked for updates!
