A compliment for my deceased PS4 controller (2014-2020)

We lost a warrior this week. On Monday night, my DualShock 4 controller, which has been my constant companion for almost six years, was the victim of a glass of spilled water. But losing it has reminded me of all the great games I played on my PlayStation 4, and how fun this generation of games has been.

I was in the middle of my second Red Dead Redemption 2 When the water was going down. Since I was watching the game, I lost the roller coaster and put it right at the corner of my table. It collapsed directly in my hands and purse, with my phone only slightly avoiding a touch. I tried to keep the controller running by drying it (before anyone asked, no, I didn’t have a bag of dry rice to wet it), and it lasted the entire game for a few minutes, before it started to turn on the resource randomly. menu. I knew it was a goner.

My deceased controller was the original that came with my PS4 when my parents bought it for me as a Christmas gift in early November 2014. I am not sure how it managed to last as long as it did, considering the amount of wear. I made it happen. Here is a picture of how his underbelly looks, with the label worn blank for years of my frustrated hands that pinched his vulcan nerve. We had so much fun together.

Losing my controller and, later, remembering all the good moments I had with him, made me relive the whole story of this generation. Since the two next-generation consoles are supposed to come out later this year, it seems a good time to look back at all the fun we’ve had. Here is a brief list of all the games that the controller helped me overcome:

  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • The last of us
  • the Unexplored series (The Nathan Drake Collection and 4 4)
  • Spiderman
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • The Witcher 3
  • Horizon Zero Dawn
  • Dark Souls 3
  • Blood borne
  • Nioh
  • Far cry 4 Y New Dawn
  • Fallout 4
  • Batman Arkham Knight
  • Assassin’s Creed Unity, Labor unionY Odyssey
  • Shadow of the Remastered Colossus
  • Dragon Age: Inquisition
  • Almost all the kingdom hearts Serie (1.5, 2.5, 2.8Y 3)
  • the Spyro Reignited Trilogy
  • Mortal Kombat X Y eleven
  • Devil May Cry V
  • Final Fantasy XV
  • Unravel 1 and 2
  • Knight shovel
  • Stranded death
  • Hellblade: Senua’s sacrifice
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, 4 4Y Modern war
  • most of Yakuza Serie

If you are a devotee of Sony, Xbox, Nintendo or PC, they have been very good years, isn’t it? Sure, we had some failures, but we also had some really good stories and experiences to take us to the new horizon with the PS5 and the X Series.

Even so, although I was sad about the loss of my old friend, it is not a complete tragedy. Meet the new boss, (almost) the same as the old boss:

Let’s see what mischief I can do with this one before the PS5 controller comes out, with its elegant adaptive triggers.
