by Archynetys Sports Desk

On Thursday evening, the official website of the Budapest Honvéd FC announced that the statue of József Bozsik, the Budapest Honvéd’s eternal champion and the legendary football player of the Golden Team, will be unveiled at the stadium named after him on Tuesday at 8:15. There are 42 comments under the post, almost all of them are worth reading.

For those who are not Honvéd fans and do not know much about József Bozsik, the right-back of the Golden Team, the Kispest camp’s fan Facebook page clearly describes what the problem is:

“We managed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of József Bozsik’s birth in a dignified way by unveiling a statue of him in front of the stadium named after him. However:
❌ Not on József Bozsik’s birthday: Friday, November 28.
❌ Not on the last home matchday: Sunday, November 30.
✅ But when Péter Szijjártó gets to it: Tuesday, December 2, 8:15 in the morning.”

“All they could have done was to remove the foil on the birthday and the day of the match, and then “officially” hand it over on Tuesday. At least until then, the people don’t see that a politician is more important than the person being celebrated,” they add.

Later, they also published a notice in which they asked the team’s fans to light candles on Friday, the 100th anniversary of Bozsik’s birth.

Anyway, Szijjártó is currently freezing in Moscow. There is no official information on whether the statue unveiling is really delayed due to his absence.
