A few days ago, precisely on March 1, around 12.30, a call from a citizen to the number of the operations center of the Public Safety Commissioner of Galatina signaled the presence along the provincial road 367, in the stretch that leads to the entry onto the state road 101, of a large dog who, bewildered, walked along the roadway against the flow, creating a dangerous situation for the vehicles and for himself, also due to the intense traffic.
A crew was immediately sent aboard a patrol car, which identified the animal at Km 2+700 of the provincial road, near Lequile.
The dog, a Dogue di Bordeaux wandered against the traffic between the cars that arrived at high speed, with the risk of being run over or causing an accident.
The police officers immediately activated the light devices to alert motorists to slow them down and then approached the animal, but once they got out of the car, this, scared, increased its pace, making recovery difficult.
With great calm, trying to reassure him and induce him to trust, in the end the policemen managed to approach him and secure him, only temporarily, with a rope so as to get him on board the service car and secure the dog and allow traffic to flow normally.
Immediately afterwards, the intervention of the veterinary service was requested and the owner was traced by reading the microchip.
All good for Thor and his owner, happy and grateful for having found and saved his four-legged friend from a bad end!
