What the Premier League says about Arsenal and Chelsea, the level of finishing points is bizarre

C & # 39; s a possibility outside that Arsenal and Chelsea could finish on equal points at the end of the season.

The two London clubs are taking fourth place in the Premier League table and a place in the next Champions League.

The results of the previous weeks suggested that neither team wanted fourth place, with the Gunners losing the last three games at the end and Chelsea drawing each of the last two games.

But the Champions League football carrot is there for both of them, with only one point separating the two teams with two matches to play.

There are a number of ways in which both can finish the level on points, so who will get fourth if that happens?

After the points difference, the league is decided based on the goal difference and ten if the clubs cannot be separated, then goes down to the number of goals scored.

But what about if this is level too?

What the Premier League table looks like from 29 April 2019

Well, going from the official website of the Premier League, absolutely nothing!

In a completely bizarre section on the official website of the championship, it is said that two teams with points, goal difference and goals scored would be "awarded the same position".

The official website says: "If a club ends with the same number of points, its position in the Premier League table is determined by the goal difference, then the number of goals scored. If the teams cannot yet be separated, they will be awarded the same position in the table. "

While that might be the case for the lower teams, for those that have to be separated for things like the Champions League qualification, there is another metric.

No country can have more than five teams in the Champions League, and UEFA will not allow five teams to qualify through championship positions, just because they have reached the point level.

The goal difference between the two teams is close, with Chelsea at +21 and Arsenal at +20, but the Arsenal scored nine more goals on the Blues, so it's very unlikely to finish exactly the level now be very unlikely.

If they did, however, the two teams will play a play-off clash at a neutral venue at the end of the season to determine who came in fourth.
