What is the story?

The boss of Arsenal Unai Emery has responded to rumors about the transfer of midfielder Matteo Guendouzi to the giants of Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain, while praising the performance and consistency of the French since his arrival in the Emirates.

In case you did not know …

Guendouzi arrived to the North London team with a transfer of just 7 million pounds from Ligue 2 team of FC Lorient last summer.

Initially the young man did not expect to be a regular player in the Gunners midfield, but soon emerged as a pillar in the first team after shameless performances. The teenager has made 35 appearances for the club so far this season and remains an impossible player to knock down for Emery.

The Frenchman has been reported to attract the interest of the champions of the Ligue 1 Paris Saint-Germain, which was part of the youth academy up to the age of 17.

The heart of the matter

Guendouzi has recently started Arsenal's comeback 3-0 in the return leg of the 32nd final match against BATE in the Europa League.

Speaking of the midfielder after the victory, Emery said: "Its development is what we want, it has a great ambition, a great quality, sometimes we need more quality with him and for him to be stronger in midfield".

"But its development with us is very important and it is playing with great consistency, its quality is really impressive."

When asked about the interests of PSG reported by Guendouzi, the manager replied: "I'm surprised, I do not want this".

What's next?

Arsenal lost the first leg of their Europa League tournament against BATE last Thursday, but turned the results home last night.

The Gunners are currently in fifth place in the Premier League standings and are hoping to beat Manchester United in fourth place with a win over Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday.
