Duff: Celtic is the only club for me
Damien Duff insists that his new role as a coach at Celtic is the best thing to do for his kids club.
The former Chelsea, Newcastle, Fulham, Blackburn and Republic of Ireland team has been named Hoops' reserve team coach.
Dubliner, 39, said that only Celtic could have attempted to move from Shamrock Rovers, where he was part of the technical staff of the first team.
Duff said, "I've been here for 10 days and loved every minute of it." When I went through the interview process six to eight weeks ago, it was the only club I would have left in Ireland, brought my family and took my children to school.
"If anyone else came to call – not that they did – this (Celtic) was the only club I should have gone to, it's so happy I am.
"I had the kits all the way in. Celtic and Man United were my teams.
"Obviously, the club is huge and I think you know the Irish connection anyway, nobody has to teach you at home, it's in your blood from the day you were born.
"The next best thing when you finish is obviously coaching and the best thing for me, I did not play for Celtic, but coming here is first class."
