The Heat with only one major change is successful against one of the best teams in the NBA – El Nuevo Herald

Perhaps it was the sense of urgency, perhaps the change in the first line-up of coach Erik Spoelstra was in effect, perhaps it was the energy of Portland, but the fact is that the quintet of Miami on Wednesday its best face for the day brought from the toughest rivals in the league.

Spoelstra made only one change by placing Kelly Olynyk in the starting quintet, who scored only seven points, doing his job well enough for the Heat (25-27) to achieve a big 118-108 victory on the Trail Blazers (30). -21, 22-8 at home) on national television.

The change also worked because James Johnson who came from the bank had his night with more daring, with more energy, ending with 15 points, six rebounds and three blocks.

Although the hero of the Heat Hassan Whiteside was with his 28 points, 11 rebounds, four steals and two blocks. He was unstoppable under the basket, but the most interesting was that he scored six of his seven free throws.

And although Hassan was huge, the man of the night was Dwyane Wade, who seemed to play in the local Moda Center. The Heat escort got all the applause since he got on the track until the end and ended with 22 points and nine rebounds.

Wade even came to be sung: "MVP!" When he went to the free throw line, where he was 4-4 and contributed to Miami, he ended up with an unusual 84 percent free. Thanks to Wade, Quintet was the capital of the sun locally in cold Oregon with hundreds of shirts and celebration of each basket.

Josh Richardson finally found that the ring ended with 18 points, 14 of them in the first half, in which Miami 62-55 ended after the first two quarters.

Wade and Whideside combined to extend the advantage in the third, but in the last quarter the Blazers gave him a good fright to reduce the difference and reach a point; but this time the Heat was able to close, endure the rival attack and carried out with solvency that ultimately yielded 10 points of benefit.

The other four players have also made a decisive contribution to the triumph. Between Justise Winslow (10 points), Dion Waiters (9), Bam Adebayo (5) and Tyler Johnson (4) added 28 important points.

Tyler's attack as a starter, however, is a bit worrisome, with only 4.3 points averaging in its three games in February and slightly less than the players in the second unit of Waiters with 5.6 and Adebayo with 6.6, although the three are almost always compensate for their discrete offensive performance with their defensive work.

They only missed CJ McCollum, who finished with 33 points, Jake Layman with 25 and Damian Lillard with 13. The rest went almost unnoticed.

Now it is important to follow the line and play as hard as this Tuesday, to be the rival who, and although it seems, is not a bipolar team.

This Tuesday, the brand new acquisition Rodney Hood from Cleveland did not play for the Blazers. Nor is Rodney from Miami, McGruder, who has lost his place in the rotation.

Now it remains to be seen whether the Heat is also local in Sacramento where this Friday faces the kings (28-25) in search of their second consecutive victory, a few hours after the market closes without any change in Miami.
