Silva ready for boost on the midfield

Everton boss Marco Silva is pleased with the prospect that he will have two other midfield options in the very near future.

Loan drawing Andre Gomes has yet to appear for the Blues after he has joined from Barcelona while suffering from a hamstring injury.

However, he comes fully fit and gets company from the international Irish James McCarthy, who has been sidelined since January due to a broken leg.

And Silva is looking forward to options to choose from in the middle of the park, with Portugal international Gomes and McCarthy putting forward different strengths.

Silva told the Daily Echo: "He (Gomes) is strong in his thoughts and I am sure he will help our team as we need." We are of course happy with our midfielders, but he can do different things for us.

"He works with confidence and trains with confidence, I know his qualities very well and he can give us very good things.

"We have to be patient with him, because we had to put him in a good physical condition, he is working to achieve that and now it's games that he needs."

Meanwhile, Silva said of McCarthy: "Some of the others are not so strong in some challenges and James can give us that in some situations, but his quality is also important."

The Toffees are back in action on Sunday, after the international break, when they welcome Crystal Palace in Goodison Park.

Everton is 4/5 to beat the Eagles and is 8/1 to do this with a 2-0 score, with the hosts 6/4 to keep a clean slate.
