Real Madrid Awaiting appeal on transfer ban
Chelsea may have a question mark about their future transfer activity after FIFA handed a ban for the next two windows, but coach Maurizio Sarri wants to keep hold of Real Madrid loanee Mateo Kovacic.
The London club will have their appeal against a two-window transfer ban heard on April 11, and if the ban is lifted, Sarri is a permanent deal for the Croat, who is a one-year loan deal at Stamford Bridge.
"I know he is on loan but I would like to keep him," Sarri said.
"I would like to have stayed with us because you know that is a problematic area for us and we only have Jorginho to play there.
"In my opinion Kovacic can become a great midfielder, or course he is not a defensive midfielder but in that position I like to have a technically gifted midfielder. "
