Pep Guardiola said last weekend's draw against Tottenham showed that his Manchester City team could be even better than last season.
City has accumulated 100 points in the Premier League in the 2017-18 season and 98 points in the last campaign claiming consecutive titles, and both times Guardiola said he could get more.
Although the 2-2 draw last weekend ended in frustration – given that Gabriel Jesus' potential late winner was excluded from the VAR for Aymeric Laporte's minimum handball in the accumulation – Guardiola was left to purr from his team's attacking kick as they had 30 attempts at three of Tottenham's goals.
"The way we played against Tottenham showed that we can do better than last season," said Guardiola, who takes the side of Bournemouth Renault Super Sunday.
"So a few games from last season (they were so good), even Chelsea when we won 6-0, the Tottenham match was better than Chelsea.
"Last year we arrived at the goal and in the first five times we scored four. In football, in all sports, it is so, but we played better."
The challenge for City – besides converting more possibilities – is being able to produce such displays more regularly.
"I think it is impossible to support every three days playing the way we played against Tottenham," said Guardiola.
"The excitement of the first home game, the Champions League finalists, the excitement of the players, were incredibly focused.
"The problem when you play every three days, you have to solve them. & # 39; Come on, let's go guys, it's another and another & # 39 ;, but the level was so good. It was amazing, the way we play, so let's try to go ahead and build from here. "
Guardiola is trying to bring City to three consecutive titles, something that has not been seen in English football for a decade since the Manchester United titles in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Guardiola has already achieved the feat twice both with Barcelona and with Bayern Monaco, and believes that this team is also capable.
"I'm not a guy who thinks because we did it with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, we'll do it – they are statistics that I don't believe," he said.
"I believe in the spirit, in the smell, in the way we played and I think we can do it.
"Of course we want to win, but later I didn't feel bad against Tottenham. With the VAR again, again, again, it's a bit (frustrating) but after sleeping, you say: & # 39; Va well & # 39 ;. "
VAR could have been irrelevant a week ago if the City had simply converted their chances, but Guardiola said the goals were not a problem in a team that had scored 95 in the league last season and 106 in the campaign before.
"When you look at all the goals we've scored in the last two seasons, I don't think you can say that there is no doubt that we can score goals," he said.
"We don't have two incredible players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi who score 50 or 60 goals per season but, despite this, we have scored an incredible number of goals in the last two seasons.
"You don't lose that ability and we will continue to score."
