Paul Pogba appoints Manchester United's teammate giving the example that everyone should follow

Paul Pogba believes that anyone who wants to be a "top player" should follow Juan Mata's example at Manchester United.

Spanish midfielder Mata is an extremely popular figure in the club and is loved by his teammates and his adoring fans at Old Trafford.

The former Chelsea midfielder was an important part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's set-up during the pre-season and recently signed a new two-year contract with United.

Mata and Pogba were joined by the new United who signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka on Sunday while attending an adidas fan event at Marina Bay during their Singapore tour.

The event included a live question and answer session, during which the Pogba World Cup winner was asked what was needed to become a top player in the Premier League.

In response Pogba said: "If you want to be a great football player, just follow Juan Mata, continue to follow your dreams and move on."

The French international is not the only one impressed by the mentality that was demonstrated by Mata during her time at Old Trafford, with the manager Solskjaer also a big fan.

Following the confirmation of the new Mata contract at the beginning of the summer, the manager of the United States called him the "definitive professional".

"Juan is the last professional and one of the smartest players I've worked with," said Solskjaer. "It's a great example for our younger players in his approach. He understands what it means to be a Manchester United player and has embraced everything about this great club.

"In addition to everything he brings to the field, here we have some fantastic young players and I know that Juan's vast experience will help them reach their potential in the coming seasons. I am pleased that he has signed a new contract, because I know his talent and his mentality will be invaluable for the team ".
