Paris Saint-Germain was interested in signing Matthijs de Ligt from the Ajax but will not buy the defender, says sporting director Leonardo.
De Ligt's performance in leading the Ajax to a double double at home, as well as the semi-finals of the Champions League, have made him one of the most requested players in the world. But Juventus seems destined to win the race for his signature after De Ligt's agent, Mino Raiola, declared that the personal terms were agreed with the Serie A champion.
With the negotiations on the transfer quota that continues between Ajax and Juve, De Ligt was present at the beginning of the pre-season training with the Dutch giant on Monday. And Leonardo accepts that De Ligt will not join PSG while indicating that the Ligue 1 champion is operating on a limited budget.
& # 39; It's not a good time to make a big investment & # 39;
"De Ligt will not come to PSG," said Leonardo Le Parisien. "C & # 39; was a possibility: he is a great player, but it is not a good time to make a big investment, we must calm down a little, we do not have an envelope with 200 million euros to spend".
Napoli central defender Kalidou Koulibaly was advertised as an alternative to De Ligt for PSG, but Leonardo indicated that international Senegal would also cost too much. "He is a very expensive player," added Leonardo. "There is no specific project for the moment, but I don't want to talk too much about individual cases."

Leonardo said he had not made any offer to try to keep Adrien Rabiot at the club, with the midfielder joining Juve as a free agent. Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey transferred to Turin led to rumors that the former PSG player Blaise Matuidi could now be in excess of the requirements. "I love Matuidi," said Leonardo. "I have a lot of respect and respect for him, he has always been fundamental for PSG, but today at PSG there are already players and we will continue to play 11 on the field".
PSG have signed Ander Herrera and Pablo Sarabia ahead of the new campaign, but veteran Gianluigi Buffon has rejected a new contract to return to Juve.
