Neymar has been accused by UEFA of having insulted the match officials following the exit of the Paris Saint-Germain Champions League at the hands of Manchester United.
Marcus Rashford's penalty kick, in the fourth minute of recovery, secured an extraordinary 3-1 away win against United, which means they have moved forward.
The penalty was assigned by the Assistant Video Assistant when Diogo Dalot's shot hit Presnel Kimpembe on the arm, but Neymar was adamant about the winner's goal at the Parc des Princes that he should not have resisted.
The Brazilian star wrote in a post on Instagram: "This is a shame, they put four people who know nothing about football, in charge of watching the replay for VAR.
"There is no penalty, as it can be a hand ball when it hits your back!
UEFA has now opened disciplinary proceedings against Neymar for "insulting / harassing match officials".
The case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Office with the date of the hearing still to be confirmed.
