"However, Xavi is similar in his way of playing. Like me, he is not the most physical or the greatest player. I've always seen and admired.
"I always looked at Luka Modric and it was a pleasure to watch him during training and in games. I looked up at him. "
Winks has been at Tottenham since his youth and the midfielder also talked about his affinity with the club he grew up playing and supporting.
"There are only Tottenham fans in my father's family," he said.
"It was clear from birth that I would also become a Tottenham fan. I went to all the games with my father.
"When I was in the youth academy, I always played myself on Saturday morning and then drove directly to White Hart Lane with my father to watch the professionals play.
"I love playing for Tottenham and I always give everything to my native club."
The English has three appearances for his country, having debuted in 2017 in a World Cup match against Lithuania.
Last season he made 41 appearances in total for Spurs, including the participation of over one hour in the Champions League final against Liverpool.
Winks' profile has increased in recent years as it has become an important part of the first team. He thanks the manager Mauricio Pochettino and the technical staff of the club for his improvement and that of the club as a whole.
"Our coaches have created a new Tottenham and taken the club to a new level," he added.
"They do incredibly well to improve as players and have integrated young players like me into the team.
"There is a special bond between the coach and the players. In the locker room we are almost like a family. We all fight one for the other. This is probably why we have had so much success over the past two years and improved so much. "
