What is the story?

The former star of Barcelona and Manchester United, Jordi Cruyff, spoke of the impact that Cristiano Ronaldo's output has left on Real Madrid and how it is not right to pressurize the young Vinicius Jr to fill the great Portuguese boots and bring the team.

In case you did not know …

Ronaldo left the European champions to join the Italian giants of Juventus for a transfer of € 114 million last summer. Since, Los Blancos they were left with a huge void and could not find a worthy substitute for the Portuguese.

After suffering in the early stages of their campaign (including the dismissal of Julen Lopetegui as a manager), the club seems to have improved under Santiago Solari.

Real Madrid are only six points behind Barcelona's LaLiga rival and have also reached the Champions League group stage.

The heart of the matter

Cruyff, who currently runs the Chinese side of Chongqing Dangdai Lifan, believes that while Real Madrid still lacks Ronaldo, the club should not expect that the Vinicius Junior teenager will bring the team.

Speaking for the purpose, the former man of the boat said:

"In the end, they're players who have abilities above the others, appear at important moments, guarantee you a number of goals, and when you're in the field you always trust your options because you have that special player, more about being a team and I think that Cristiano is still missing: if the game goes to 0-0, that player is the one who is unbalanced ".

Vinicius showed promising qualities in the first team, having scored three goals and recorded eleven assists for the club so far. But Cruyff still believes that the Brazilian needs time to establish himself as a team leader. He added:

"He (Vinicius) is young, very talented, that's why they paid what was paid for him, but of course asking him to bring the team is unfair, it's not fair to ask and wait … he's young and needs time to learn and adapt what your age needs, will have ups and downs, which is normal ".

Cruyff continued:

"His talent is obvious, but it is often better not to talk a lot about him so he can be calm and without much pressure on his shoulders."

What's next?

Real Madrid is preparing to face Ajax in the Champions League in the last 16 stages later tonight.
