While admission to the theme game “Emergency Services” will be free, clubs are encouraging fans to donate to the Victorian Bushfire Campaign.

It will take place on the same day as the home state party organized by the AFL between Victoria and the All Stars at Marvel Stadium.

Hawthorn President Jeff Kennett announced the game in his usual letter to club members.

“The match will be an opportunity to thank local firefighters, emergency service workers and volunteers, while Beyond Blue and Headspace will be on the ground to provide mental health tips and techniques for those who have been affected,” Kennett said.

“We encourage football fans across the country to spend the day and support the Gippsland community by visiting cafes and shops before heading to the game.”

“In the third round, on Saturday, April 4, we will organize our second annual emergency services game, presented by BankVic, when we face Collingwood at the MCG.

“This was a great success last year and both clubs will build on that success this year. More details will be given in the coming weeks, but please write down the date. It will be a great game for a great cause.”
