Cleverley winning goal & # 39; great & # 39 ;, says Gracia – FourFourTwo

Javi Gracia greeted Tom Cleverley's winning goal as "great" after Watford came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 in Selhurst Park.

Only six minutes after he arrived as a replacement for the second half, Cleverley completed the comeback of Watford with a good volleyball in the top corner, his first goal since October 2017.

Saturday's game had come into line in the final stages after Craig Cathcart had followed his first half of the own goal with a header on the right-hand end.

Watford is up to seventh, with Cleverley shining despite having to start a Premier League match this season, as he restores his complete condition after an Achilles operation.

When asked if he had shown good management to get Cleverley off the bench, Gracia told BBC Sport: "No, he is a good player! In the first half we had very good chances to score and we started the game with one clear chance to score.

"We have gone on and believe that we are able to win the game and Tom was very important at the time, like Bournemouth, he plays well after a long time injured and restores his best condition.

"All my players deserve more time to play, they all work very hard to play, I felt that the best option was Tom and he scored a great goal.

"The next game is step by step against Burnley and this is the best mentality to achieve what we want at the end of the season."

Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Pereyra both came on the line in the same move on third line, while Troy Deeney after the break made a deflected attempt by Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Gracia added: "I think we were confident during the game, we started allowing our own goal, but then the level was the same and in the second half we got the reward with two amazing goals. I'm bad happy with the performance and attitude of my players.

"All games against Crystal Palace are always very similar, this was again, we created enough chances to win the game."

Meanwhile, Roy Hodgson admitted that the most important moments had gone against Palace and hopes that "one or two" additions in January will give his 14th placed side a boost.

He said: "Tom Cleverley scores a wonder goal, which happens in football games and there is not much you can do about it." Watford is a good team and they have played it and won the victory.

"We probably had to create more chances to make the second goal, Watford was good for the counterattack, we have to accept that we could have won, but it is also a game that you can lose and we did.

"Like any other club, we are engaged in transfers and to maximize any opportunities that may arise, it is not easy and we do not have a pot full of money to exterminate a player in the world available and available to us.

"I can only hope [sporting director] Dougie Freedman and the scouts and chairman find that person, but I do not envy them. The team we have is good enough. It is not that we do not have anyone, but it would be nice to add a new face or two with five to go out. "
