After two valuable defensive line men were missed earlier in the day, the Crimson Tide ended up with a large signing of a 4-star defensive equipment. Ismaël Sopsher on Wednesday afternoon. He chose Alabama for in-state LSU. Oregon, Texas A & M and Arkansas were also in the running.
Sopsher is ranked as Nr. 47 overall prospect and No. 5 defensive tackle in the 2019 class. He was selected to play in both the Under Armor All-America Game and the Polynesian Bowl.
By landing Sopsher, an Amite, Louisiana, native Alabama coach Nick Saban another elite Louisiana prospect waved to select UA instead of LSU in recent years.
With the addition of Sopsher, the Crimson Tide has now committed or signed six defensive Linemen in its class, although it is possible that some move to other roles such as outside linebacker.
Sopsher is Alabama's 27th commitment in the 2019 class.
