The sports journalist and long-time ORF radio presenter Edi Finger junior died yesterday Thursday at the age of 72 in Vienna. This was reported by ORF radio Ö1 on Friday morning.
Initially, nothing was known about the cause of death. Edi Finger junior has been working for ORF since the 1960s, focusing on football and alpine skiing. In particular, he was associated with Radio Vienna.
Most recently, the deceased worked for oe24.TV. Edi Finger junior was born in Klagenfurt. His father was the legendary sports commentator Edi Finger senior, who achieved fame in 1978 with his radio report of the soccer World Cup match between Germany and Austria (2: 3) in Cordoba, Argentina. Edi Finger senior gave Austria’s sensational victory with the shouted words: “Tooor, Tooor, Tooor, Tooor, Tooor, Tooor! I who ‘foolish!”
Edi Finger junior was also a welcome guest at PULS 4, and he caused quite a few laughs from the audience. Most recently on the shows “Very funny!” and at the “Bundeswirtshausspiele”.
