Score goals in debut matches, Arsenal’s Anyar defender reaps praise from the Premier League legends: soccer ball

LONDON Arsenal’s new defender Gabriel Magalhaes has received praise from Premier League legends after scoring on his debut for the Gunners. The Brazilian player is a new Arsenal player brought in from Lille OSC.

Arsenal in the Premier League’s inaugural match 2020-2021 visited the Craven Cottage Stadium, Fulham’s home on Saturday, September 12, 2020. Mikel Arteta’s troops won with a convincing score of 3-0.

French striker, Alexandre Lcazatte opened Arsenal’s lead when the game had only been running for 8 minutes. The 28-year-old player scored using the chaos in front of the Fulham goal.

Magalhaes then added a goal for his new club on 49 minutes. The 22-year-old defender scored with a header sent from compatriot Willlian from a corner.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang became the next horror for the home team. The Gabonese striker scored with a curling strike into the corner of the Fulham goal which Marek Rodak couldn’t stop in 59 minutes.

Magalhaes is considered to be the player who put in impressive performances in the match. As well as keeping a clean sheet, he managed to make as many as 113 passes, the most of any player.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand said that Magalhaes was a little unfamiliar with Arteta’s three-back formation scheme. However, he considered that the player would increase the strength of the London Cannon defense line.

‘He didn’t look a little nervous, but he wasn’t so used to playing in a back three as well maybe with new team-mates. But I think he makes the defense very healthy and very solid, “he said, quoting Metro, Sunday (13/9/2020).

“Gabriel for me deserves to be the Man of the Match, and he deserves it,” he added.

Former Arsenal center-back Martin Keown is also Magalhaes. He said the young defender gave an impensive performance in his debut match.

“He was a dominant figure from the start. There was a bit of nervousness in the pass, I wouldn’t have thought he was playing in the middle without a defender. “But once he plays, we see the quality he has,” said Keown.

“He’s the Man of the Match. Very happy to see a player with such quality enter Arsenal’s defense,” he concluded.
