Russian Helicopters: Repair Backlog Exceeds 50% | [Company Name] Update

The Milenium Veladi Corp (MVC) company informed the Peruvian Army this week the progress of the repair of the three Russian helicopters that had to deliver a year ago, in August 2024, and has not completed even 50% in any of the units.

Pear21 He agreed to the letter sent by the Panamanian company, on September 15, to the head of the Army Aeronautical Maintenance Center (CEMAE), César Claudet, in which that detail is reported.

In the case of plate aircraft EP-666, 42%has been armed; the EP-66 registration, its progress is 35%; And about the last EP-654, only 7%has been assembled.

In the report, MVC points out that it has not been able to install the landing trains because the passports that detail repairs, modifications and reviews have not been renewed.

“The omission of this documentation has prevented the continuation of the process and, consequently, has caused a delay of 248 days the validation of these components for subsequent installation in the aircraft,” the firm was excused.

This newspaper reported last week that only this month has reached 87% of the pieces that will renew the helicopters that should be available to address the emergence of the El Niño Costero phenomenon, at the beginning of last year. All material, valued at S/75 million, will be completed at the end of September.

In November 2023, the armed institution hired US $ 20.3 million to the Panamanian company Milenium Veladi Corp so that it is responsible for the refaction of vehicles. However, the company has not fulfilled its part.

The units had to be ready on August 13, 2024. But MVC requested to expand the delivery deadline until October 30 of that year, and then until December 30, alluding that the war conflicts between Russia and Ukraine prevented him from completing his work.

According to military sources consulted, MVC excused himself for the delay with four observations: the impossibility of moving Russian material in the middle of the war; the priority given by the authorities of that country to the use of their weapons in that context; the repair of “components” that were not within the contract; and the appearance of “hidden damage” on engines.

This year, the company tried to expand the delivery deadline once again, but the army did not grant it any more time.

Sources consulted indicated that despite the breach of MVC, the contract has not been resolved because it would open a legal process that would reach the courts, while the helicopters would continue inoperative until they find a new bidder.

The same sources said that the helicopters are already waiting in December.
