Since yesterday, the “Arturo Toscanini” State Conservatory of Ribera has been on tour in Egypt for international musical activities, thanks to the collaboration established with the national agency Indire-Erasmus and the Italian embassy in Cairo. The delegation, which will remain in the Arab state until next February 3, is made up of eleven students who are accompanied by their teachers, by the director of the conservatory, prof. Riccardo Ferrara, by the deputy director Prof. Mariangela Longo, also responsible for the productions and Erasmus office, has already landed at the Egyptian airport, located 15 kilometers from the capital, and is going to increase the composition of the Erasmus Orchestra.
The stages of the expedition will touch the most important Egyptian cities from Cairo, Luxor and Alexandria in Egypt. The event is sponsored by Indire-Erasmus with the cooperation of the Italian embassy. Students from Italian conservatories have been selected as instrumentalists and soloists of the Erasmus Orchestra, which is directed by maestro Elio Orciuolo.
The initiative, on the occasion of the “Study in Sicily” fair organized by the Sicilian Region, confirms the prestigious result of the young talents of the “Toscanini” present with Dario Pillitteri, oboe, Vincenzo Boccellato, trumpet, Carmelo Pecoraro, trombone, Biagio Gino Grillo, percussions, Marco Guccione, violin, Liu Ruoxi, violin, Giada Maria, viola, Carmelo Fallea, viola, Emanuela Maria, cello, Sara Semilia, soprano, Samuele Di Leo, tenor.
“The tour and the shows – affirms the director of “Toscanini” Riccardo Ferrara – will allow our musicians, after studies and concerts in European countries, to have further international experiences and to bring Italy’s name to the top”.
