Determined rescuers battling time and hefty rain reached the exclusion zone in jap Afghanistan on Thursday soon after a potent earthquake killed at least 1,000 people and left thousands homeless.
The 5.9-magnitude quake strike the rugged east most difficult on Wednesday, collapsing cell cellular phone towers and energy traces although triggering rocks and mudslides that blocked mountain roads.
“It is very tricky to get details from the floor since of the weak community,” Mohammad Amin Huzafa, head of info in the tough-hit Paktika province, informed AFP on Thursday, adding that there was no rapid update on the loss of life toll.
