(Frisco, TX) — State Representative Jared Patterson announced that he will, with the help of the district veterans committee, again nominate a member of House District 106 for the Texas Armed Services (TASSP) scholarship program.
Each year, the Texas state legislature may nominate one student for the TASSP, a state program created to encourage Texas students to graduate from high school and enter the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) at civilian colleges. The TASSP award amount for the 2022-2023 academic year is up to $10,000.
Representative Patterson’s office and the District Veterans Committee will be receiving and reviewing applications over the next 6 weeks and making a selection by early August. Interested applicants should send their application form, resume, and a brief cover letter describing your interest in the fellowship and ROTC to the Patterson representative. Jared Patterson represents House District 106, which encompasses eastern Denton County. During the 86th Legislative Session, Patterson authored and passed initiatives in policy areas such as transportation, education, property taxes, and eliminated unnecessary and onerous state regulations. Patterson serves on the House Committees on Business & Industry, Calendars, and Homeland Security & Public Safety. He is also a member of the Texas Cybersecurity Council. His family lives in Frisco.
