Renault heats up the first prototypes of the Megane E-Tech electric model. Under the special camouflage we can see that the outer shape is almost unchanged from the presentation of the Megane eVision concept.

Things got extremely complicated in the France-Germany match of the car industry, especially after PSA took over Opel, preparing for a countertop on the electrification front. Whatever the situation, it is certain that the French are preparing to introduce a champion of the compact class, and now it has already released a fleet of 30 pre-production models. Volkswagen still has a serious lead with ID.3, but that doesn’t mean Renault has already lost the race.
The future Renault Megane E-Tech Electric will be produced based on the CMF-EV platform and has an electric motor with a power of 160 kW (217 hp for those accustomed to heat engines). The capacity of the Li-Ion battery is 60 kWh, which should allow the French model a range of 450 kilometers in the WLTP cycle – we can appreciate the actual range around 250 km – 400 km, depending on the weight of the sole.
The first Renault Megane Electric prototypes: What we know about the future model
Renault stops here with the technical details, instead considering the camouflage of the cars important enough to dedicate an entire paragraph to it in the official statement. If you are curious to know more about it, beyond what can be seen with the naked eye, I encourage you to deepen your study on the Renault website.
We are trying to complete the image of the future Renault Megane Electric with the pieces of information we have so far. The design, as can be seen despite the camouflage, faithfully follows the lines of the Megane eVision concept. We expect this not to be true for the dimensions – the concept was only 4.21 meters long. Renault will certainly keep the proportions and wheelbase of 2.70 meters of the concept, scaling the rest to values closer to the length of 4.40 meters – the current Megan model has a length of 4.36 meters.
At the same time, we already know that the future electric Megane will not have a front trunk – frunk as Tesla fans called it. The space saved under Megane’s hood will be used to bring the air conditioning system, which will no longer take up space in the passenger compartment. The first image inside reveals a giant L-shaped screen, which integrates the instrument panel and the multimedia system screen.
