The protagonist is once again the determined British detective Hana Li, now called to face a new and complex web of mysteries that will lead her into the heart of the world of National Security.
A solemn event turns into a nightmare within the walls of the United States Embassy in London. During the official ceremony for the appointment of the new ambassador, an anonymous phone call threatens to blow up a British plane if anyone tries to leave the building. The embassy is immediately placed on lockdown. Guests and staff remain trapped inside, as tensions build minute by minute. But what seems like a classic crisis to be negotiated soon turns into something much darker: a murderer is hiding in the corridors of the Embassy, determined to carry on his own deadly game. It is the one who has to deal with the situation policewoman Hana Li (Jing lusi) embroiled in a spiral of political intrigue, legal gray areas and personal conflicts with Clay Brody (Martin Compston), head of security at the US embassy, which puts her loyalty and very survival to the test.
The second season, consisting of six episodes, will also see the return of Lesley Sharp as MI5 chief Madeline Delaney, and Jemma Moore as journalist Jess Li.
Red Eye 2 is written and created by Peter A. Dowling (Black and Blue, Flightplan) and produced by the independent Welsh company Bad Wolf, company financed by Sony Pictures Television, former producer of Doctor Who and The Winter King, among others.
