According to Qatari sources, Iran has again attacked an industrial area in the Gulf state, which is home to important facilities for the production and shipping of liquefied natural gas. Civil defense is fighting a fire in the Ras Laffan industrial area, the Interior Ministry said on Platform X. There are no injuries. No further details were given. This also left it unclear what exactly was burning in the extensive industrial area.
Iranian missile attack on Ras Laffan
The Defense Ministry in Doha said early this morning that Iran had attacked Ras Laffan with ballistic missiles. There is damage. The agency initially did not provide details on the number of missiles used by Iran or projectiles that may have been intercepted by anti-aircraft defenses.
Qatar is one of the largest gas producers in the world and also plays a key role in the global supply of liquefied natural gas, which is mainly shipped in Ras Laffan. Qatar’s production and transport across the Strait of Hormuz are currently largely interrupted due to the Iran war that has been going on for a good two and a half weeks.
