Putin, North Korea & China: New Alliance?

by Archynetys World Desk

North Korea’s top diplomat met with Russian President Vladimir Putin this week, praising the two countries’ “spiritual closeness” and pledging to deepen bilateral ties.

It is difficult to have details of North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui’s meetings with Vladimir Putin and Sergey Lavrov, his Russian counterpart, but the Russian president affirmed that “everything was going as planned” in the relationship.

Pyongyang a hurried approximately 10,000 troops to Russia to fight against Ukrainian forces, in exchange for economic and technological support.

States like North Korea, Iran and China still support Russia to varying degrees. Three heads of this “ axis of the crisis» (Chinese President Xi Jinping, North Korea’s Kim Jong Un and Mr. Putin) met in Beijing last month during a Chinese military parade.

Russians seem to appreciate Beijing’s support for Moscow since 2022: Gallup poll finds published Monday69% of Russians approve of the Chinese head of state, an increase from 36% in 2019.

The current relationship has nothing to do with the bilateral tumult of the Cold War, during which a China-USSR schism was triggered by the divergent interpretation of Marxism in each two countries.
