PT Jasa Marga Reports 395,701 Vehicles Exit Greater Jakarta on Isra Mi’raj and Chinese New Year

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – During the Isra Mi’raj and Chinese New Year holidays, PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk observed a notable surge in vehicle traffic leaving Jakarta’s metropolitan area, known as Jabotabek. Over the D-3 to D-2 period, from Friday, January 24, to Saturday, January 25, 2025, a total of 395,701 vehicles exited the region. The documented figures encompass cumulative traffic from major toll gates including Cikupa, Ciawi, Cikampek Utama, and Kalihurip Utama.

Traffic Volume Analysis

Lisye Octaviana, the head of Corporate Communication & Community Development at Jasa Marga, indicated that the traffic volume increased by 24.3 percent compared to regular traffic levels, which typically see 318,444 vehicles. The primary direction of departure was towards the eastern regions, specifically Trans Java and Bandung, accounting for 209,666 vehicles or 53.6 percent of the total.

Details of Eastern Traffic Distribution

Further breakdown reveals that 112,091 vehicles utilized the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road to head to Trans Java. Another 97,575 vehicles took the Kalihurip Utama Toll Gate on the Cipularang Toll Road to reach Bandung.

Traffic to the West and Beyond

The next significant traffic movement was westwards towards Merak, with 101,482 vehicles crossing via the Cikupa Toll Gate on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road. Additionally, 84,553 vehicles departed towards Puncak, using the Ciawi Toll Gate on the Jagorawi Toll Road.

Analysis of Traffic Trends

Significantly, on Saturday, January 25, the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate experienced a notable surge with 64,833 vehicles passing through. This represents a 118.15 percent increase from the typical volume of 29,720 vehicles on a regular day.

Lisye recommended that commuters plan accordingly for the festive holidays to ensure smooth travel experiences. She advised checking and maintaining vehicles in optimal condition, ensuring sufficient fuel, and keeping electronic money card balances topped up.

“Take good care of your journey by stopping at rest areas for breaks,” she advised road users. “Always follow traffic signs and directives from field officers to maintain safety.” These tips are invaluable for minimizing disruptions and making the most of their holiday travel.
