The launch event was graced by key officials, including Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney and Civil Surgeon of Amritsar, Dr. Kirandeep Kaur. This high-profile attendance underscores the seriousness and importance of the initiative.
Program Objectives
The Nirmaya Shakti Programme aims to train ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activists) and Anganwadi workers. Once trained, these workers will educate their respective communities about preventive measures against cervical cancer. By working at the grassroots level, the program seeks to ensure that vital health information reaches women who might otherwise have limited access.
Awareness Campaign Details
The awareness campaign kicked off with a Nukkad Natak, a street play, performed by the Phulkari WOA’s Conquer Cancer team in collaboration with BBK DAV College for Women. This innovative approach aims to engage students, faculty, and the broader community, making health education both accessible and engaging.
Conquer Cancer Initiative Statistics
The Conquer Cancer initiative, helmed by Phulkari WOA, has made significant strides in spreading awareness. To date, they have conducted 153 awareness sessions, organized 13 screening camps, educated 600,000 people, screened 1,300 women, and vaccinated 452 girls. Key members like Nidhi Sindhwani and Praneet Bubber are driving this mission, ensuring that accessible health resources and information are available to all.
Program Vision
The ultimate goal of these efforts is clear: to educate communities, facilitate screenings, and ensure affordable healthcare options for both prevention and treatment of cervical cancer. By empowering women with knowledge, the program aims to build a healthier, more informed society.
