Evgeny Strazhev, the driver-mentor for technical training at St. Petersburg State Unitary Enterprise “Gorelectrotrans”, spoke about his profession and its subtleties. It is reported by “MK in St. Petersburg”.
According to him, he fell in love with trams while still a seven-year-old boy. He grew up and got a job at the local tram depot – first as a mechanic and painter. Then Strazhev learned to be a driver, but he did not immediately begin to carry passengers. He had to wait six months, before citizens over 20 years old could drive public transport.
In the 2000s, he moved to St. Petersburg and became a technical training mentor.
During his career, he managed to sit behind the wheel of 30 types of trams.
“This requires some special gift, or something,” he believes. “As for me, I think this is my calling,” he said.
According to him, the profession is good and promising in terms of payment – 60-70 thousand rubles a month. A third of this amount is a scholarship during theoretical training and another half – during practical training.
