It had to wait a long time. Now the support group for the Ortenburg Castle area is back from the Corona-related forced break with the Ortenburg Castle culture. The program planned between the beginning of July and the beginning of January comprises almost 30 events. Particularly gratifying for the association: the majority of the events can take place at Schloss Ortenburg. At the start there are open-air concerts.
The municipality has been the owner of the castle since 2019 and has been gradually renovating it since then in order to make it more accessible and usable. “The purchase offers the opportunity to turn the castle into a cultural and tourist center in the region,” says Alfons Niederhofer, chairman of the sponsoring group and cultural representative of the market. The first modifications and the installation of an elevator created a noticeable added value. The palace chapel and many other rooms have since been accessible without barriers. This is also noticeable, for example, through the use of the countess’s room in the program of the series of events.
Until the turn of the year, the Ortenburger Schlosskultur will feature concerts of a wide variety of musical styles, theater, excursions, readings and lectures. A colorful program for young and old, which by the sponsorship group now also includes fixed sizes such as local history excursions, cinema in the castle or historical-cultural lectures and is characterized by local, regional and international participation.
“With its wide range of events, the series of events has contributed to enlivening the castle and its surroundings for many years,” says Mayor Stefan Lang, emphasizing the importance of the Ortenburg castle culture and adding that “many cultural highlights are planned for the event year in Ortenburg again this year “. Despite the current Corona easing, attention must still be paid to compliance with the rules applicable at the time of the event.
The series of events begins with two open-air concerts in the courtyard of Ortenburg Castle of the classic events Niederbayern: On July 8th, the two guitars and the violin of the Viennese world music trio Cobario will sound. The Viennese charm of Jakob Lackner, Georg Aichberger and Herwig Schaffner is followed by flamenco, Italian folklore and bossa nova. Manuel Randi, Marco Stagni and Mario Punzi want to offer a fiery music cocktail with guitar, bass and drums on July 10th.
The sponsorship group will appear with its own events from the end of July. On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Hammerschmid Musi, a concert will take place on July 24th in the garden of the Neustift monastery. As part of Kino im Schloss on August 6, children can again decide for themselves which of the three films they can choose from with drinks, chips and popcorn in the Countess’ Room.
Finally, the sponsorship group would like to point out a small change in the program. Due to a conflict of dates, the barrier-free castle tour for senior citizens planned for August 10th has to be postponed. The alternative date is Wednesday, August 18. – dww
