Olympia and 1st FC Bocholt found the football academy at Hünting together. Alexander Giese becomes director.
The 1. FC Bocholt and FC Olympia Bocholt have come together to jointly launch the football academy at Hünting. The new academy will initially focus on the age groups Bambini to e-youth (four to ten years) and should “offer young talents professional football training,” says the two clubs.
“With the football academy at Hünting, we would like to offer the youngest players the best ways to develop and enjoy playing on the game,” explains Dennis Van Marwick, youth leader of FC Olympia Bocholt.
His colleague, Sven Klahsen from 1. FC Bocholt, adds: “This is the next logical step for the young center. The fact that both clubs take this cooperation is on a very good way. We are all willing to advance the ‘Together Aamhünting’ project.
Alexander Giese leads academy
Alexander Giese played for BW Dingden for many years, 1. FC Bocholt, SV Brünen and VfL Rhede. With his professional experience in the fitness area and sports science expertise, he should lead the football academy on the Hünting, both clubs share. “When my cell phone rang and Sven Klahsen gave me an insight into the planning or the idea, I knew: I want to be there here,” says Giese. Those responsible for the 1st FC Bocholt and FC Olympia Bocholt would not have had to convince him to take over the management of the football academy. “This gives football young people in Bocholt a development alternative. In our eyes, this is the right approach,” said Giese. With full conviction and enthusiasm, he now wants to make his contribution to “not only building this cooperation, but also filling with life and offering young talents the best possible development opportunities”.

Should be started with the youngest. The academy should then be expanded step by step and a structure that stands for success and sustainable funding in the long term is to be created. The players remain members of their home associations, but at the same time should benefit from an improved training structure among qualified coaches. Training is carried out in the places of both clubs.
The aim is also to bind young players to regional football in the long term and to offer them perspectives on further football development. The cooperation is intended to create a performance-promoting environment that takes into account both wide and talent football equally, according to the two clubs. “We will invite all parents to an information evening to present the football academy at Hünting with their structures and answer all open questions. We will offer individual viewing training for interested players who would like to become part of our football academy from summer,” says Thomas Schmeinkck, coordinator of FC Olympia Bocholt.
“Winning for both clubs”
The board members of both clubs are certain that both the 1. FC Bocholt and FC Olympia Bocholt will benefit from the collaboration in the long term. “The Academy at Hünting is a win for both clubs. It strengthens our young talent and gives us the opportunity to promote talents at an early stage and tie them to the clubs in the long term,” said the association managers.
