Regaining autonomy, confidence and well-being after an oncology journey is possible. In collaboration with the doctor Beatrice Demuruthe Olbia Community Hub organizes and hosts Friday 20 Marchfrom 3pm to 5pm, at its headquarters in Poltu Cuadu a Olbiaan in-depth meeting, open to the public, dedicated to physiotherapy in breast medicine and the post-operative rehabilitation process.
The initiative offers the community a moment of dissemination and discussion on the main aspects of rehabilitation after breast surgery: during the meeting, fundamental issues will be addressed such as the management and prevention of the most frequent post-operative complications, including pain, joint limitations, swelling, loss of strength and difficulty in daily movements. Through a targeted rehabilitation process it is possible to accompany patients towards the recovery of full autonomy and towards a new awareness of their own body.
The appointment will be curated by Beatrice Demuru, physiotherapist specialized in breast rehabilitation, who will illustrate the role of physiotherapy in the recovery process after breast surgery. Colleagues will take part in the meeting Sonia Bovebreast surgeon, e Domenico Maria Pagliaraplastic surgeon from Mater Olbia, for an in-depth analysis of the patient’s clinical path, from the surgical phase to reconstruction up to rehabilitation.
The Casa Silvia association and a representative of Komen Italia will also participate in the event, an organization that has been involved for years in supporting women facing breast cancer and in promoting prevention and the culture of treatment.
Among the most significant moments of the meeting there will be the direct testimonies of some patients who are experiencing or have already undergone the intervention and rehabilitation process. Their stories represent the heart of the initiativeexperiences of courage and rebirth that tell how important it is to be accompanied in the recovery of one’s physical and emotional well-being.
