WIESBADEN / OFFENBACH – The number of infections in the city of Offenbach is getting closer to the limit for further tightening of the corona measures. As of Tuesday, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants rose from 36 to 39 within seven days, as the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs said. The threshold is 50.

The Rheingau-Taunus district follows at 22, then the Odenwald district and Wiesbaden at 20 each. After a sharp increase in the Covid 19 cases at the weekend, Offenbach had already tightened some corona measures. Among other things, barbecues and picnics were prohibited in public areas, visits to retirement homes are only possible outdoors or in larger rooms such as visitor rooms. The bottom line, however, was only a moderate increase in the number of infections on Tuesday. According to the city, five new cases were registered compared to the previous day. At the weekend, the number had climbed to the current high of 65 active people. There are currently 64 acute Covid 19 cases in the city.

After the positive Covid 19 test in a four-year-old child, several groups of a daycare center were quarantined, the city said in the evening. “The health office has determined all contacts in the daycare and has carried out tests on teachers and children,” it said. “All contacts are currently in quarantine – so it is not necessary to close the daycare completely.”

In the meantime, the number of people in Hessen who have been proven to be infected with the coronavirus increased by 57 compared to the previous day. In total, there have been 12,199 cases since the pandemic began, as the Ministry of Social Affairs in Wiesbaden (as of Tuesday at 2 p.m.) announced. The number of deaths associated with Covid-19 has remained stable since Friday. Now it rose by one to 521. The statistics of the ministry only record information that has been entered into an electronic database by the municipalities up to a certain point in time.
