A significant international military exercise organized by the Romanian Navy began on Monday in the Black Sea and the Danube estuary with the participation of 13 NATO member states, the Romanian Ministry of Defense (MAPN) announced.
Over 2,500 soldiers from Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Turkey and the United States are exercising together in the joint operation codenamed “Sea Shield 26”, which will last until April 3, with 48 river and sea warships, 10 aircraft, 10 remote control systems and 64 land military vehicles. About two-thirds of the soldiers and combat equipment are provided by the Romanian Navy.
