In Memoriam: Padraic Staunton

Padraic Staunton, a cherished member of his community in Hill of Ward and Staunton’s Pharmacy in Athboy, Co. Meath, along with his life in Old Head, Louisburgh, Co. Mayo, unexpectedly left us on January 16th, 2025, while he was in Portugal.

A Loving Son and Brother

Padraic was the loving son of Joe and the late Breege McMyler and the beloved brother of the late Anne O’Donnell. He also shared a strong bond with the late Paddy Clifford, his father-in-law.

Remembered with Love

Padraic’s loss is deeply felt by his wife Brenda Clifford, his son Colm and Aoife, his daughter Emer and Jono, and his brothers Tom, Joseph, and John. He was also deeply cherished by his sisters Mary Lyons, Mairead, and Therese Dawson. The loving mother-in-law Kitty Clifford, aunts Margaret and Claire, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, and the extended Clifford, Staunton, and McMyler families, colleagues, neighbors, and a wide circle of friends will miss him greatly.

Rest in Peace

In honor of Padraic’s memory, he will rest in repose at Mullen’s Funeral Home on O’Growney Street, Athboy, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm on Sunday, February 2nd. His peaceful hours will continue at Sweeney’s Funeral Home, Louisburgh, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, February 3rd.

Funeral and Service

Family and friends are invited to join in the farewell service for Padraic on Tuesday, February 4th, at St. Patrick’s Church in Louisburgh. The funeral service will be held at 12 noon but will commence at 11:30am. The family has requested private cremation to follow the service.

Condolences and Donations

Padraic would have appreciated donations in lieu of flowers, which can be made to St. Vincent de Paul in Athboy or the Order of Malta in Louisburgh through Sweeney Funeral Directors at The Glebe, Louisburgh.
