Hanoi is currently witnessing a surge in popularity for 9-ball pool, highlighted by the commencement of the Northern Region 9-Ball Pool Club Championship – Sting Cup X VBSF 2025 on May 9th.Organized by the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation (VBSF), this tournament represents a significant step forward in promoting the sport across the nation.

Tournament Structure and Schedule

The championship features a comprehensive structure designed to identify the best talent from across the northern region. Nearly 1,000 amateur athletes representing 24 prominent billiard clubs from Hanoi and Hai Phong are participating. Qualification rounds are scheduled to take place from May 13th to July 27th within the participating clubs. The top 48 players will then advance to the final round, held in Hanoi from august 1st to 3rd, 2025.

Rules, Regulations, and Prize Pool

The tournament adheres to the official billiards and snooker rules published in 2009 by the General Directorate for Sport and Physical Training, supplemented by updated international regulations. A ample prize pool of 350 million VND is up for grabs, incentivizing high-level competition.
