Noa Zwan GTST: Addiction Storyline Tears

“Tough to play but also important to show”

For Demi, the problems are piling up rapidly. The young Meerdijk woman struggles with a drug addiction and seems to have completely lost control of her life. The Verduyn family, Marwan El Amrani (Hassan Slaby) and Zoran de Vries (Jurriaan van Seters) watch it with dismay.

For Noa, this storyline represents one of the most intense periods of her life GTSTcareer to date. On Instagram she shares a look back with a series of photos of the shooting of the moving scenes. “Tough to play, but also important to show,” she writes honestly. The soapie admits that it was emotionally difficult. ‘For me as an actress, this is really challenging and so educational.’

The text continues below the Instagram post.

She realizes better than anyone ‘how bizarre’ it is that she is allowed to do this work every week. The fact that these were not easy shooting days is evident from the many tears that rolled down her cheeks. ‘I still enjoy going to the set too much, even though I cried during 99% of the scenes during this storyline on set.’

Noa emphasizes how important she thinks it is that this subject is addressed in the soap. ‘Joking aside: I really immersed myself in this story and I’m so happy about it GTST gives me such opportunities.’

Playing the addiction line was way outside her comfort zone. “I waved them goodbye during this storyline,” she jokes. Yet the story did not come out of the blue: Noa pitched the intense storyline herself to the writers of Good Times, Bad Times.

She had long dreamed of playing such a raw and layered side and that wish has now come true. You can see more about this in the video below.
