Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel was not kind to new team receiver Julio Jones in the wake of the 38-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Vrabel strongly criticized a penalty received by the receiver in the first quarter. With a more than affordable third try, Jones shoved cornerback Byron Murphy and even threw a shot at him. The Titans had to go back 15 yards on the streak and then missed the third down. They were already shooting 10-0 at the score at the time.
“This is a critical error. It is absolutely not something that we teach. So it falls into the category of stupid gestures that hurt the team and bold in addition. We went from a third and a yard to third and 16 yards, ”said Vrabel on Monday.
The 32-year-old Jones had just three catches for 29 yards in his official debut with the Titans. Last season, the receiver had 771 yards and scored three touchdowns in nine games.
