Receiver Antonio Brown has been suspended for eight games, reports NFL Network.
This sanction follows the NFL’s personal misconduct investigation against him.
If he joins a squad this season, the free agent who announced his retirement once again last week could not play until at least Week 9.
A former fitness trainer, Britney Taylor, has charged Brown with rape and sexual assault in a federal lawsuit.
Brown has denied the allegations.
Brown was also advised that any subsequent violation would “likely result in a greater penalty”.
On Twitter, Ed Wasielewski, Brown’s agent, said the wide-winger will not appeal the suspension.
“He is excited to resume his superb football career and he looks forward to playing in 2020,” Wasielewski said.
