Utrecht: Police arrest further suspects – Politics

According to the prosecution, it is a 40-year-old man from Utrecht. Two other suspects have since been released from custody.

The Dutch police have arrested another suspect in connection with the fatal shootings in Utrecht. It was a 40-year-old man from Utrecht, the prosecutor announced on Tuesday night. The man had already been arrested by a special police unit in the afternoon. Details of the suspicion against the man called the prosecutor not.

The main suspect is the 37-year-old Gökmen T., who was arrested on Monday evening after hours of search. He is said to have shot three people in a tram on Monday and seriously injured three others. He remains in custody. The police do not exclude that there was a terrorist motive for the act.

Two other men, who had been arrested on Monday, have since been released from custody, according to the prosecution. They are no longer suspected.
