Ozil’s reps in Washington to discuss move
Arsenal star Mesut Ozil could yet leave the club this summer, with his representatives reportedly in Washington to discuss a move to DC United.
Ozil’s agent Ergot Sogut is holding talks with the MLS side, according to the Star, as they are set to lose current star player Wayne Rooney in January, after he agreed a move to become a player-coach in the Championship.
And Ozil’s future in north London has been uncertain ever since Unai Emery’s arrival. The German playmaker has not been a guaranteed starter under the Spanish coach, despite being the club’s highest-paid player.
And Ozil is said to be considering a switch to America, with his representatives being given a tour of DC United’s training ground and stadium.
A move would need Ozil to drastically cut his current wages, but the midfielder is said to be considering how to extend his career having turned 30 last year.
